Catching Up Between 2 Storms

Busy Weekend at the Parish - 02/07/2021

On Sunday, February 7, the St. John’s family gathered for Divine Liturgy despite the snow that morning. The parish welcomed the Atilla family as they visited from up at St. Tikhon’s (fellow alumnus of Fr. Silouan’s).

During Father's homily, he spoke about the need for us to persevere in our faith like the Canaanite woman did.  Despite being ignored, attempts to send her away, and being insulted, she pressed on in her faith and worship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Following Divine Liturgy, Father blessed candles.  Normally this would have been done on the feast day for the Presentation of our Lord; however, during the actual Feast day, the region was pummeled by up to two feet of snow.  Additionally, with the blessing of His Eminence, Archbishop Mark, Father swore in the 2021 Parish Council.  Many years to them all!

Following the service, the parish enjoyed a light luncheon and fellowship in Repella Hall along with a special parish meeting to handle a few remaining details from the annual meeting.
