St. John the Baptist Welcomes New Members, Blesses Vehicles for Prophet Elias Feast - 07/19/2020

We had an active weekend at St. John's in Edwardsville, PA. On Saturday (July 19th) Tewoldemedhin Rustu along with his wife and daughters were received into the Church through confession and recitation of the Creed - welcome to our newest members! May God Grant them Many years!

The following day (Sunday) the parish gathered for Divine Liturgy.  Father Michael Evans was with us this weekend and concelebrated with our priest, Father Silouan Burns.  The parish welcomed guests from as far away as Harrisburg, whom we were pleased to see. At the end of Liturgy, the parish processed outdoors where Fr. Silouan led us in prayers for the blessing of vehicles in honor of St. Elijah’s Day. Everyone then processed to the parking areas where Fr. Silouan and Fr. Michael blessed all the vehicles including a few skateboards and some other items people brought in their vehicles for blessing. At the end, Fr. Silouan blessed all those present, splashing them with holy water and even a local who was walking down the sidewalk enjoyed the blessing. The service concluded with a dismissal from the steps and singing Many Years for John and Karen Rushton who are celebrating their 42nd wedding anniversary.  Glory to God for all things!
